Product Data Cleanup Tool

Find out what’s wrong with your product catalog before it costs you sales. Drop in a CSV export and this free tool gives your catalog a health score out of 100. It also flags missing data, duplicate SKUs and titles, formatting problems and units written five different ways. Then it hands you a cleaned file and a list of fixes.

There’s no sign-up and nothing to download. Your file is read in your browser and never uploaded.

How To Use The Product Data Cleanup Tool

Results show up as soon as your file loads.

  1. Export your products as a CSV. Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy and Amazon all have a product export. If your catalog lives in a spreadsheet, save it as CSV.
  2. Drop the file into the tool. You can also click to choose it, or try the sample data first.
  3. Check your columns. The tool matches columns like SKU, Title and Price on its own. If a match is wrong, pick the right column and the results update.
  4. Pick your unit spellings. For each unit it finds, choose one way to write it, like “in” or “.
  5. Download your files. The cleaned CSV fixes spaces and units. The issue report lists every problem by row so you can work through the rest.
Works with CSV exports from Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy, Amazon or any spreadsheet saved as CSV. Your file is read in your browser and never uploaded.

What Your Results Mean

  • Health score: a quick read on how ready your catalog is for your store, Google Shopping and marketplaces. 90 and up is in great shape. Under 50 needs a full cleanup.
  • What To Fix First: the five problems that affect the most rows. Start here.
  • Missing Data: how much of each key field is filled in. Google Shopping and Amazon expect a brand and GTIN for most products, and listings without them can be limited or rejected.
  • Duplicates: rows that share a SKU, and products with the same or nearly the same title. Platforms may overwrite or reject duplicate SKUs. Duplicate titles make products hard to tell apart.
  • Formatting Issues: extra spaces, all-caps titles, titles that are too short or too long, thin descriptions, invalid prices, broken image links and barcodes that fail the check-digit test.
  • Unit Spellings: every way your file writes the same unit, such as 1/2″, 1/2 in. and 1/2 inch, with a count for each.

How The Health Score Is Calculated

The score adds up four parts, for a total of 100 points.

  • Complete Data (40 points): the average percentage filled in across the key fields the tool found in your file.
  • No Duplicates (20 points): points come off for every row with a duplicate SKU or title.
  • Clean Formatting (25 points): points come off for every row with at least one formatting problem.
  • Consistent Units (15 points): points come off for each unit that’s written more than one way.

In a Shopify export, variant and image rows are counted the way Shopify uses them. Titles and descriptions are checked on the first row of each product, and SKUs and prices are checked on variant rows, so the extra rows aren’t counted as missing data.

Frequently Asked Questions

What File Types Does The Tool Accept?

It reads CSV files, including tab-separated and semicolon-separated files. If your catalog is an Excel file, open it and use Save As to save a CSV copy.

Does It Work With Shopify, WooCommerce, Etsy And Amazon Exports?

Yes. It matches common column names from each platform. It also recognizes Shopify’s product CSV format, which puts variants and extra images on their own rows.

Will The Cleaned File Change My Product Data?

The cleaned file only makes safe, mechanical fixes. It trims extra spaces and standardizes the units you checked. It can also change all-caps titles to Title Case if you turn that on. It doesn’t delete duplicates or fill in missing data, because those need a person to decide. Keep your original file as a backup before you import anything.

Why Are Some Of My UPCs Flagged?

A UPC or GTIN ends in a check digit that has to match the numbers before it. The tool flags barcodes that fail that test. It also catches two spreadsheet problems: barcodes turned into scientific notation, like 8.12E+11, and barcodes that lost their leading zero.

Is My File Uploaded Or Saved Anywhere?

No. The tool runs in your browser. Your file is never sent to a server or stored.
